The magnificent art deco work contains kabalistic and astrological attributions described in Aleister Crowley s Book of Thoth. The art deco artwork of the Thoth is rich in Egyptian symbolism. To each of the twenty-two Major Trumps of the tarot is assigned, by tradition, a Hebrew letter and a path on the Tree of Life, as well as an astrological sign, element, or planet. The deck also reflects Crowley s interest in alchemy and magic. The original Crowley Thoth Tarot has attracted a worldwide following, both for its striking beauty and for its complex depiction of occult knowledge. Original printed outer slipcase with thumb-notches, cardboard inner box with gilt metallic finish covering and thumb notches. The first full-color version of the Thoth tarot deck to be printed in the USA. This is the Llewellyn publication of the Thoth Tarot deck (sometimes known as "White Box B") which was released in conjunction with Samuel Weiser in 1973. This US printing followed the first color edition of the full Thoth deck that had been printed in Hong Kong by Llewellyn Publishing in the preceding year (that is 1972, not 1969, as is commonly but erroneously thought). It was published with the collaboration of Grady McMurtry (then Caliph of the O.T.O), Lee Heflin, and Gerald Yorke. To be clear: unlike the first Llewellyn edition, which was printed in Hong Kong, this Llewellyn / Weiser edition first US-printed edition was printed in the USA, and is marked accordingly, and is thus the Llewellyn variant of the first color US printing. This particular set has the corrected versions of "Eight of Cups" and "Ace of Disks": the versions of those cards in "White Box A" and some early printings of "White Box B" carried design flaws. Vintage (1973) Tarot “The Ancient Prophecy” Complete Deck Of Cards & Book. Minor shelf ware. I don’t think the cards have ever been used! This is a great deck and BOOK to learn on. The book explains the cards much simpler than the Rider Waite books. Not so boring to read!
